- NRN is the National Relief Network out of Grand Rapids, MI and what they do is organize volunteers to go into Federally declared disaster areas to help with relief efforts from tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, etc.
- The work can range from clean up debris, to dismantling of homes, to repairs and rebuilds.
- For more information about NRN you can visit them at www.nrn.org.
When is the trip?
- We are scheduled to go July 22-27, 2019
- We will be traveling by bus (non-stop)
- This service trip is open to all St. Joseph Parish members and friends that are 13 years old and up (12 years old if a parent/guardian is also going).
Where are we going?
- Work orders come to the National Relief Network either from the Red Cross or FEMA.
- Right now we don’t have a destination and most times we don’t know until about 30 days before our trip. It all depends on Mother Nature.
- We usually stay at a school or church, either in classrooms or the gym on air mattresses.
- We will have 3 to 4 days of work time depending on where we are going and one fun day.
Cost?
- The cost is $524.00 per person. The cost includes food (while we are down there), travel, lodging and most supplies (the cost does not include fun day cost). We will have an NRN collection in May and other fundraising opportunities.
- We need a minimum of 35 people to sign up to go or else may have to cancel the trip.
What do we need to do now?
- If you would like to attend this year’s trip you can sign up online, on the sign-up sheet in the Gathering Space at the Country Church, at a Mustard Seed Youth Group meeting or by contacting Don at (734) 426-2674.
- We will have an information meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00pm in the Parish Center. A $100.00 deposit per person is due in order to hold your spot. You can pay by cash or check made payable to "St. Joseph Parish" (please put NRN in the memo line) or online (4% processing fee applies)
- The second deposit is due on May 22, 2019. Information will be sent via email.
- The week of June 3, 2019 a mailing will be sent out with how much is still owed and paperwork for the trip that will be due at the June 19 meeting.
- Wednesday, June 19, 2019 NRN meeting in the Parish Center at 7:00pm to go over the details for our trip. Final deposit and all paperwork will be due at this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Don Dalgleish at (734) 426-2674 or by email.
